2008 Semi Finalist,

2009 Finalist,

 2010 Quarter Finalist Leah Killmer!

Excerpts from my recent interview with Leah Killmer...

Miss Leah Marie Killmer, a.k.a. LeeLee is age 17 from Garwood, NJ and was one of our NHS Teen Idol 2009 Finalist! Besides this she has won the vocal music award in her graduating class from middle school, has about 8 first place trophies from her soccer team, she’s made Honor Roll every marking period since fifth grade and also received the “KIP: Keep It Positive” award from her soccer league two seasons ago. Leah’s biggest accomplishment has been choosing to stay back, and repeat her freshman year in order to attend, “Academy for the Performing Arts”, which is her high school.

School just ended for Leah and she is preparing for summer camp, has been casted as the supporting lead in “Meet Me in St. Louis”. Leah will be playing the daughter Rose and attending the “Pineda Conservatory’s Summer Intensive”, also be working at the recreation summer camp in her town because she loves working with kids!

An interesting story from her Mom is, “My mom always told me how she never needed music to put me to bed, because I hummed myself to sleep every night. Also, when I was about 1 ½, I was in Disney world and my parents decided to take me out of the stroller to see what would happen. I didn’t run away or try to walk; I just stood there and danced. Music has always affected my life.”

Leah’s comments about NHS Teen Idol:  “My best experience was meeting so many talented people. I made so many great friends throughout my last two years and I hope this year is even better. Also, meeting so many intelligent people; the people really know what they’re talking about and are there for the benefit of helping you. Teen idol is one big family. If one person has an accomplishment, we all do. It’s a large and caring family.”

I like this, I asked her what she would like to be remembered for, she said, “I would like to be remembered for being different. I don’t want everyone to remember me by saying, “Oh yeah, she was around the time of Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez.” No, I want to be remembered as me, only. “Oh yeah that was Leah Marie, boy was she unique and amazing!”

Leah’s biggest fan is Uncle Pete: “I don’t see him very often, but when I do he has nothing more to say then, “Is my goddaughter famous yet?” He always has something funny to say and to cheer me up. He truly believes in me, and honestly in my teenage years, that’s what I really need; believers.”

Her main goal is to do what she loves for the rest of her life and remain happy, which is of course performing!  Her overall goal is to make herself known; she wants to be known all over the world!

Well Leah, our NHS Teen Idol Family definitely knows who you are (Leah has been part of our Family for Years); I speak for everyone when I say, “You are Unique and Amazing!”
