NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TEEN IDOL 2010 RULES & REGULATIONS

1.             ELGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

·                 Participants entering 8th grade to 12th grade including recent graduates.

2.                  Each contestant is required to read and check the box for “teen idol waiver.”

3.                 If you are under the age of 18 and are not coming with a parent or legal guardian, you must have ID and present the notarized document that is located at the end of the application’s agreement. If you are coming with a parent or legal guardian, none of the above is necessary.

4.                 Participants may not utilize back-up singers or dancers in their auditions. No musical instruments may be used. 

5.                 Participants are not allowed to leave the stage or stage area during their performance.

6.                 Songs containing vulgar or explicit sex lyrics will not be allowed. Participants who, during their performance, use vulgar lyrics or perform in an obscene manner will be disqualified from any NHSCA Teen Idol competition.

7.                     Participants, their family or associates who exhibit offensive behavior during any portion of the contest  will result in the disqualification of that participant from any future competition.

8.                  Participants from prior NHSCA National High School Teen Idol competitions are eligible to enter the 2010 competition with the exception of the 2008 & 2009 winners.

·             You will receive a wristband that must be kept on you at all times

·           Follow the schedule for the auditions. It will be given to you at registration (same schedule as on the web site). If you miss the audition times, we will not be able to give you a make-up, therefore follow the schedule.

·           Participants will be allowed to sing at least thirty seconds for their preliminary & quarterfinal a cappella auditions. You may sing any song in any style you wish. 

·           All participants are required to give to associate producer, two duplicate CD’s of their instrumental music to be used during the semi-final and final rounds. (The extra CD will be used as a back-up if necessary). Legibly label the CD’s with your name and the song title. CD’s will not be returned.

·           The same song MUST be used for both the semi-finals and the finals. You will be able to perform the song in its entirety (semi-finals and finals) if it is no longer than 4 ½ minutes long.

·           Participants may perform the same song as another participant in any round.

9.        During all different stages of the event you could be filmed for National Television, so dress appropriately.

·           No inappropriate skin, midriffs, short skirts or shorts will be tolerated. No logos on your clothing.    

10.    On Sunday, June 27th 2010, one female and one male will be chosen as the 2010 NHSCA National High School Teen Idols 

11.    NHSCA, its sponsors, representatives, and National High School Teen Idol take reasonable care, to provide adequate equipment for participants. When signing application, you holding harmless NHSCA, sponsors, representatives and National High School Teen Idol of any problem that may occur as a result of malfunctioning equipment or disc failure during the competition.

12.    These rules and regulations may be changed or modified at any time by NHSCA and the National high school Teen idol.

 

Contestants MAY NOT utilize live props. This will include back-up singers, dancers or animals musical instruments may be used .Contestants are not allowed to leave the stage or stage area during their performance Songs containing vulgar or explicit sex lyrics will not be allowed. Contestants who, during their performance, use vulgar lyrics or perform in an obscene manner will be disqualified from any TEEN IDOL competition.  Contestants, their family or associates who exhibit offensive behavior during any portion of the contest will disqualify that contestant from further competition. Contestants from prior TEEN IDOL national contests are eligible to enter the 2010 contest at any level, with the exception of the 2008 & 2009 1st place winners Each contestant is responsible for providing their own discs for competition. Contestants may perform the same song as another contestant in any round.

 THESE RULES MAY BE CHANGED OR MODIFIED AT ANY TIME

All participants are required to give to associate producer, two CD copies of their instrumental music to be used during the semi-final, and final rounds. (SAME SONG ON BOTH CD’S AS A BACKUP PRECAUTION) Please legibly label the CDs with your name and the song title.  CDs will not be returned.

The producers will have sole and absolute discretion to eliminate a contestant from the competition.
IF UNFORSEEN EVENTS BEYOND OUR CONTROL OCCUR, ALL TIMES, DATES, AND INSTRUCTIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND ARE UNDER THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE PRODUCERS.

NOTE: In the event sponsors supply equipment, clothing, shoes etc. Producers have the right to direct contestants when and where to wear these products throughout the Event. If contestant refuses to cooperate, Producers will have sole digression to remove contestant from Event without any compensation.
