Come and enjoy the entire High School Teen Idol experience with our full three-day schedule of education and competition
All scheduled events will take place in the Bergen Community College Auditorium located at:
Bergen Community College, Paramus Road, Paramus, N.J.
Friday, June 25
9:00 –10:00 am
Registration at Bergen Community College for the educational workshops and seminars.
At registration you receive a wristband that must be kept on at all times as well as receive a welcome packet with valuable music/entertainment/educational materials to help in considering a career in the field of music.
Also;
All participants are required to give to associate producer, two CD copies of their instrumental music (Karaoke) to be used during the semi-final, and final rounds. (SAME SONG ON BOTH CD’S AS A BACKUP PRECAUTION) Please LEGIBLY label the CDs with your name and the song title.  CDs will NOT be returned.
*If you are NOT coming with a parent or legal guardian you must have ID and present the notarized document that is located at the end of the application agreement.
If you ARE coming with parent or guardian, none of the above is necessary.

Brief orientation 
You will be told of any changes in the schedule, where to report for various events, safety regulations, restroom facilities, what to expect for each day and explanation of the workshops, address any questions that you may have before the Teen Idol events start.

Approach To Singing & Know Your Audience
 
Renowned International Vocal Coach and Entertainer, Mr. Carmen Jon & Leading Music Adviser to performers in the entertainment industry, Robert Colletti, will demonstrate a comprehensive training session on the fundamentals to great singing.  They will also show you how to recognize your audience, learn how to entertain them, use the microphone as an extension of your voice, and develop incite on the audition process for Musical Theater and Hotel establishments.
 How To Make A Living In Show Business
Mr. Carmen Jon and Robert Colletti will take you on a musical journey to discuss the realities of the music industry and explain the many avenues an individual with passion and talent can pursue.  You will learn all aspects on how to develop and maintain a music career.
Workshops
Participants will be exposed to “hands on” Educational Workshops by the top professionals in the entertainment business.  Mr. Carmen Jon, renowned International Entertainer and Recording Artist, (Carmenjon.com) and Robert Colletti, Television, and Recording Personality, will be hosting an array of activities necessary for survival in the entertainment business.

  • HE IS THE SENIOR PRODUCER FOR THE COMPANY IN WASHINGTON, DC CALLED THE HUMAN FACTOR. HE HAS GAINED HIS FORMAL EDUCATION FROM THE HIGHLY ACCLAMED BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC IN BOSTON BLAKE HAS PRODUCED SONGS AND ALBUMS FOR ARTIST ALL OVER THE UNTIED STATES AND EUROPE. MANY FAMOUS ARTISTS HAVE RECORDED WITH BLAKE AS PRODUCER INCLUDING 2008 WINNER CATALINA GAGLIOTI.
HE HAS ALSO COMPOSED MUSIC FOR CORPORATE CLIENTS INCLUDING HONDA, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE, US ARMY AND MARINES.

AS PRODUCER AND INSTRUCTOR, BLAKE BRINGS KNOWLEDGE, PROFESSIONALISM, AND EXPERINCE TO PRODUCTIONS AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS.
Utilizing a portable recording studio, a projector and a big screen, Record Producer Blake Althen, of Human Factor, takes three vocal and guitar tracks, and in real time, creates three versions of the song right before your eyes. At each step, Blake explains the concepts and techniques top-notch producers use to bring out the best qualities of a song.  Participants experience the actual production of a finished song and learn key production principles, including initial evaluation of the song, design of a final product, selection of proper techniques, and use of the best gear to complete the production.
This renowned seminar is full of music, advice and is a live demonstration covering all aspects of production: Including performance, arrangement, and technology.   This is a must see lecture!

Saturday, June 26
8:30 am - 11:30 am - Sign up and Preliminary auditions - a cappella any song for both the workshop participants and all others that come this day to the Bergen Community College. You will be told at the end of your audition if you made it to the quarter-finals.
At registration you will receive a wristband that must be kept on at all times, hand in your wavier and the two copies of your instrumental music (Karaoke)
*If you registered on Friday and are a part of the “educational workshops and seminars”, you DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER AT THIS TIME.
Please Note: All participants are required to give to the associate producer, two CD copies of their instrumental music (karaoke) to be used during the semi-final and final rounds. After the Preliminaries (time permitting) Sebastian Richards from M.A.D.E. Productions will speak and present  a slide show on what "Being Made" means and what it can do to help a music career.

Quarterfinal Auditions
Be prepared to sing a cappella (without music background) a song of your choice.  If you do not move onto the next round, you will be given a written critique to help you for future music career goals.  You are invited free of charge to the rest of the event.
24 semi-finalists will be announced following the Quarter finals

Now is the time to bump it up a notch. Get ready to perform in front of a live audience of friends, family, fans, and industry professionals. Participants will be performing their songs along with instrumentals (Karaoke) and vying for a coveted spot in the NHSCA High School Teen Idol Final 12.
 
 
 
SUNDAY, JUNE 27
9:30am-12:00pm
The 12 Finalists - Morning Rehearsal:
Finalists report to the stage for morning rehearsal.  The producer expects you to be on time.  We may be filming part of the rehearsal. You may be singing together as a group for part of the production.  Be prepared to sing your song for sound checks, lighting cues, entrance, and exit marks.
2:00pm Finals & SPECIAL PERFORMANCES
You will be placed backstage in the order of appearance.  Warm up your voice prior to 2:00 pm in the music room across the hallway. There will be filming for television and agents, managers, and college professors will be in the audience, so dress for the performance.  No logos on clothing and no inappropriate skin (midriffs or short skirts).  Remember your entrance and exit and “break a leg.”
GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!    The producers will have sole and absolute discretion to eliminate a contestant from the competition.
