2009's Male Vocal Runner - Up: Michael Menichini
Excerpts from my recent interview with Michael Menichini...
Mr. Michael Bexar Menichini , born in San Antonio, TX now is 19 and lives in Marlton, NJ. Michael is our NHS Teen Idol Male Runner-Up 2009!
His earliest memory of performing was in his 4th grade play where he received his first solo.
When I asked him if he had any interesting stories to tell us, he said “Well, one summer when I was around 6 years old, I was sitting in a restaurant and they began a karaoke competition. My favorite song at the time was “Orange Colored Sky” by Natalie Cole. Apparently, I walked up to the DJ and asked him if he had the karaoke to that song, and to my surprise, he did. I ended up singing in the competition and winning! “
Mike’s best experience at NHS Teen Idol was being able to listen to Mr. Foley, Mr. Colletti and Mr. Jon and all the advice and support they had to offer him!
I like this... When I asked him what are your accomplishments? Awards? Trophies? Metals? Etc. he said” I’ve never been one to brag. I believe that sometimes, being humble can be your biggest weapon.”
Right now Mike is attending the University of Delaware where he is in his second semester. After this his ultimate goal as a performer would be, to be successful and an all around liked artist.
His favorite style of music is big band / swing. He doesn’t really have a favorite song but his favorite song to perform is “Moon dance” by Van Morrison. His favorite artist(s) are Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble. Which makes sense that his biggest influence is Sinatra and he is Michael Buble’s biggest fan. He is such a big fan that his friends call him “Buble”!
In addition to his wonderful voice, Mike started playing the piano about 4 years ago and fell in love with it.
I’m going to brag about Michael, our NHS Teen Idol Male Runner-Up! Just to let you know Mike, Elvis Presley made his singing debut in a contest when he was 10 years old…where he placed second!
