Excerpts from my recent interview with Jamie Gaita...

No need to introduce, Miss Jamie Lee Gaita, the 2009 Female Vocal Winner of the NHS Teen Idol Event. She is currently 19 years old, resides in Woodland Park, NJ (better known as West Paterson) and attends Kean College full time studying Music Education. Besides her passion for getting good grades, she is also mastering playing the piano, clarinet, flute and saxophone! She also holds no limitations on musical interests…she’s likes a little bit of everything.
Her first remembrance of performing was when she was 10 years old at a summer camp talent show where she placed first!
Since then her accomplishments include: The James Pagano Award (excellence in performing arts) where she placed first, Star Power, Next Star and Talent America. She also placed in Apollo’s Armature Night and of course placed first in The NHS Teen Idol Female Vocalist of 2009.
Jamie’s experience with our event was delightful. After all her hard work she was honored to be in the finals. She thought all the contestants were amazing, loved the interaction with them and the support for one another they all shared. She was very impressed with the sportsmanship from the crowd, stating that she knew those people were there rooting for another contestant, but they all made her feel very comfortable.
Jamie’s biggest fan is her Grandfather who has attended every performance she has ever done. While traveling he plays her CD’s in his car. If he is in the middle of one of her songs at his destination, he will sit in his car until it is finished and will never stop one in the middle.
Her current goal is to get a CD together that everyone will like!
Jamie was very influenced by Eugene Foley when he said in his workshop “don’t try to be like anyone else they already have one of them now they want something different.”
She JUST FINISHED her NHS Teen Idol produced Original Song titled “END IT” that will be available soon !!!
When I asked Jamie how was your experience in the recording studio she said: “It was amazing I love working with Glenn (the producer/studio technician) He makes recording fun and it’s so cool to see all what goes on behind the scenes of making a song. It’s a lot of hard work on both the singer and technicians part. It can get very tiresome to sing the same parts over and over but somehow Glenn pushed me through and made it sound fresh and alive. It was so awesome to go in there have one product and then put my own spin on it and get something completely different at the end. Recording is definitely one of the best things I’ve ever done and I can’t wait to get back into the studio for my next song.”
Finally, Jamie would like to be remembered for making good music, being a good role model for young children and helping the local community!
In conclusion, I take my hat off to our upcoming musical sensation! Good luck in your endeavors Jamie and God Bless you and your family!
