Miss Bridget Maresca

NHS Teen Idol 2010 "Jr. Mascot!"

This year we had "Jr. Mascots" very talented children that were not able to compete because of their age, however, were able to attend our workshops and participate.

Excerpts from my recent interview with Bridget Maresca...

Bridget Maresca, age 11 from Fair Lawn, NJ was one of our NHS Teen Idol 2010 “Jr. Mascots!"  Her earliest memory of performing was when she was only 4 years old with her Mom and Grandpa at Clown fest (wearing a Big Red Nose)!

This is what she had to say about NHS Teen Idol, “It was a fun experience. I met a lot of new friends and learned so much!” She also had fun doing the skit with her Workshop Group on Friday. When I asked her, what do you like best about NHS Teen Idol? She said, “Singing with so many other talented people!”

Bridget also has multiple trophies and medals from winning or placing in skit competitions during Clown fest.

Not sure of her goals yet, she just wants to learn to be a better singer and performer.
Currently on Summer Vacation, with her free time she will be attending St. Annes Stages Musical Theatre Summer Workshops (her 5th year), in the fall she will join the TJ Middle Schools Chorus for the 2nd year and has plans to audition for the Chamber Choir and  in the winter she will audition for a spot in the next "Stages" production.  In the meantime, she’ll try to get out to karaoke with her mom as much as possible!

Bridget also loves Broadway Musicals, playing Lacrosse and Lea Michele from Glee.

Besides NHS Teen Idol, Bridget had another very exciting experience recently:

American Idol Experience, Walt Disney World:
“In April 2010 during our visit to Disney World's Hollywood Studios Bridget got a taste of what it's like to be a part of American Idol! We arrived at the front gate about 30 minutes before the park officially opened and Bridget auditioned for the producers. We were than whisked away for audition #2 where she was invited to be a contestant in the 1st show! She was sent to hair & make-up, a consult with a performance coach and off to sound check. While the contestants got warmed up backstage I watched as the 1,000 seat auditorium filled to near capacity! Bridget was the first person to perform, her music started and she belted out her song (the lyrics are on a giant screen on the back wall). Two other contestants sang and then the audience voted. Bridget didn't win but she didn't care. She had so much fun and enjoyed getting a chance to be part of the American Idol Experience.”
- Liz Maresca Twiggs (NHS Teen Idol 2010, Judge and Workshop Instructor, Also Mom)!

WOW! Bridget is very busy for only being 11 years old! I am very proud to say that she found out about NHS Teen Idol from Me!

Bridget's 2011 update...

Just one month shy of 13, Bridget was once again an NHS Teen Idol Mascot for 2011. She looks forward to competing next year but has enjoyed two years of stress free participation and cheering on her talented friends. She has also learned a lot about the music business, auditioning and performing.

Over the past year Bridget has had the opportunity to perform on stage with the St. Anne's Stages summer show "Gleek & Proud of it" for two sessions singing solos on multiple songs, acting and being Slushee'd!  She was also a part of their winter original musical "Bill & Ted Save Broadway" which was most excellent! Doing two winter shows wasn't easy but she also appeared in her middle school original production of "Just a Dream" as a soloist  and in the ensemble. This year Bridget was proud to have been accepted into her school's Chamber Choir and also participated in Chorus.

Starting only two weeks after Teen Idol 2011, Bridget will be taking part in the St. Anne's Stages production of "Fractured Fairytales" and has her tiara all ready to go! She will be a part of her school's chorus and will audition for Chamber Choir once again. She hopes to audition and be a part of the Bergen County Chorus this year! She will also audition for her school show and for St. Anne's Stages. She looks forward to being able to compete in Teen Idol next year and possibly be a winner like her new friends Chelsea and Sumner!

Bridget would like to thank Mr. Colletti for allowing her to sing in the semi-finals of Teen Idol this year! She would also like to thank the staff, judges & workshop instructors for their kind words and helpful suggestions. She sends love to all of her fellow participants and wishes them much luck & broken legs on all of their upcoming musical and stage endeavours! She also sends a huge thank you and a lot of love to her middle school chorus teacher, Mrs. Caravano for all that she has done to help her improve vocally, for her support and for her sharing her passion for music! And of course to her Mom who always has to keep the gas tank full to get her to her performances and shows!

Thank you MojoQueen for sponsoring me this year! I hope I did you proud!

Yes you did Sweetie!  I can't believe you will be able to compete next year...BREAK A LEG !!!  - Alicia
